Although its predecessor wasn’t even a crossover, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a spiritual successor to one of the brand’s most successful vehicles. The Mitsubishi Eclipse was a sports compact from 1990 through 2012, and one of the most iconic vehicles the brand has ever built. With name value and recognition like that, Mitsubishi decided to make its spiritual successor in the form of the Eclipse Cross, a compact crossover utility vehicle representing the future of the brand. Joining the lineup in 2018, it continues building its legacy to this day as the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which is available right here in San Jose, California.
As the Eclipse Cross enters its sixth year on the lineup, the brand hasn’t had to shake things up too much as of yet, instead just improving and adding things where necessary. For example, this year the automaker decided to standardize the Super All-Wheel Control system as well as a set of LED headlights and fog lights across the entire Eclipse Cross line of trim levels. These newly standardized features are joined by more refined trim on the front and sides of the vehicle in certain trim levels, as well as redesigned 18” alloy wheels.
Beneath the hood of the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, regardless of which trim level you opt for, is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The powertrain is capable of generating 152 horsepower alongside 184 pound-feet of torque. The engine itself is joined by a continuously variable transmission system as well as the aforementioned Super All-Wheel Control system, combining to form a very impressive powertrain, as well as an efficient one. The vehicle achieves 25 miles per gallon through the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Customers interested in purchasing a 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross of their own will be able to choose from four different trim levels. The base trim is the ES, which features 16” alloy wheels and a host of great features. The next step up, LE, upgrades to 18” black alloy wheels and many additional features. The SE trim level upgrades to 18” two-tone alloy wheels plus even more, and the SEL trim level represents the most standard features and tech. In addition, you can add the Panorama Package to the SE trim level, or the Touring Package to the SEL trim level.
