Lights and Parades

One of the biggest events of the holidays takes place just a short drive away in Redwood City. Hometown Holidays is an all-day event that includes carnival games, pictures with Santa, and a light parade. Shop local vendors, eat and drink to your heart’s content, and enjoy local entertainment. The event takes place on December 10th, so don’t miss out! Another great way to get outside is with Eco Light Cycles. You can book a Christmas Lights tour in their open pedicabs any time from December 9th through the 23rd to see the best light shows that San Jose has to offer. For even more lights and shows, you can catch one of the many History Park’s Heritage Holiday Light Show from December 9th-18th.

Santa and More

There are several opportunities for some time with Santa around San Jose. Head to the Almaden Community Center for breakfast, arts and crafts, and photo ops with Santa. Be sure to register in advance and bring your own camera! If the kids want some behind-the-scenes Santa fun, you can see Santa’s Workshop for yourself at the Mountain View Community Center. Register in advance and the kids can take place in a multitude of fun holiday invents including writing letters to Santa, customizing ornaments, and even making their own snow globe.

This year, Santa isn’t just for kids! At San Jose Venues, adults 21 and up are encouraged to dress in their holiday best to drink and be merry for San Jose SantaCon 2022. Or, if you’d rather stay active, you can attend Santa Run Silicon Valley for a day of fitness and fun. Even the kids can take place in the Kids Fun Run for ages 2-10. Be sure to register for an event t-shirt, then enjoy milk and cookies at Christmas in the Park.

Finally, if you need to get some last-minute shopping out of the way, you can attend one of the many arts and crafts fairs in San Jose and the surrounding area. Take in the fun on December 10th-11th at the Open Air Artisan Faire, Ananda Holidays Craft Fair, or Handmade for the Holidays.
