Mitsubishi Earns IIHS Safety Awards

High safety ratings are becoming increasingly important as a deciding factor in choosing a new vehicle. As one of the most-trusted organizations in the business, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awards vehicles each year for their safety standards. It comes as no surprise that several Mitsubishi vehicles made the list this year, including the Outlander and Outlander Plug-In Hybrid.

2023 Outlander

Earning the highest ratings possible across all categories is the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander, the three-row vehicle designed for comfort and performance. It earned high ratings in the crashworthiness tests as well as in the crash avoidance tests thanks to features like Forward Collision Mitigation with Pedestrian Detection and a multi-view camera system. Plus, eleven airbags are strategically placed throughout the cabin to keep occupants safe in the event of a collision.

2023 Outlander Plug-In Hybrid

Taking the top spot as a Top Safety Pick is the 2023 Outlander Plug-In Hybrid, America’s first and best-selling plug-in hybrid SUV. It’s the ultimate family vehicle for several reasons: plentiful seating, roomy cargo, money-saving fuel efficiency, and now award-winning safety features. The Outlander Plug-In Hybrid has been recognized by other organizations for its emissions-reducing performance and now for its ability to keep drivers and passengers safe.

2024 Outlander

Although it hasn’t yet arrived at dealerships, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander has already made a huge impression by earning the status of IIHS Top Safety Pick. It continues with the standards set by the 2023 model by scoring high in crashworthiness and crash avoidance tests. To earn the Top Safety Pick award, the Outlander rated “Good” in various crashworthiness categories. The 2024 Outlander has yet to be tested for nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian safety, which could earn it high enough points to be designated a Top Safety Pick+ in the future.
