What is S-AWC?

Super All-Wheel Control is Mitsubishi engineering at its finest. The all-wheel drive system improves handling and stability to perform in nearly any condition. Developed through years of rally racing and rigorous testing, the S-AWC system delivers power and braking to all four wheels through an Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control System. This intuitive system allows for more confident braking, steering, and cornering on a variety of terrains and in different conditions. There are three main components that make up the S-AWC system. An Active Center Differential balances torque with steering, while the Active Yaw Control handles the brakes and steering. Lastly, the Active Stability Control keeps your vehicle connected to the road with enhanced traction by applying brake force to individual wheels as needed.

You don’t have to wait for slippery or unstable conditions to make use of S-AWC; the drive mode selector allows for even more control during your daily drive. There are six drive modes available on vehicles with S-AWC, each offering customized settings as you make your way around San Jose or on your summer road trip.
